History Behind the Recall

Stellantis subsidiary FCA US, LLC has announced a safety recall affecting more than 72,000 Ram trucks due to a defect that may cause the instrument panel display to fail at startup.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a software error within the instrument panel cluster may prevent the display from showing critical driving information, including warning indicators, gear position, and vehicle status alerts. If the display does not function as intended, drivers may be unaware of important vehicle conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

NHTSA warns that the loss of instrument panel information poses a safety risk, as drivers rely on these displays for real-time vehicle feedback.

Which Vehicles Are Affected

The recall impacts approximately 72,509 vehicles, including the following 2025–2026 Ram models:

  • Ram 1500
  • Ram 2500
  • Ram 3500
  • Ram 4500
  • Ram 5500
  • Ram Cab Chassis models

All affected vehicles were sold in the United States and may experience the display failure due to the identified software issue.

What Owners Need to Do Next

Ram dealers will inspect the instrument panel cluster and perform a software update or replace the cluster if necessary, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning January 8, 2026. In the meantime, owners can contact Ram customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for additional information.

Owners can also check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by entering their VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. The internal recall numbers for this campaign are B4C and B8C.

How Ram Owners Can Take Back Control

While this recall has been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
