History Behind The Recall
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, has announced a major recall affecting 219,577 vehicles across its Ram ProMaster and Dodge Journey lines due to a rear-view camera defect.
According to documentation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves cracks in the camera’s microprocessor, which may cause the rear-view display to fail or show a distorted image. This reduces the driver’s visibility while reversing and increases the risk of a crash.
The defect also violates federal safety standards that require functioning rear visibility systems on all modern vehicles.
Affected Models
- 2019–2021 Ram ProMaster
- 2019–2020 Dodge Journey
Total vehicles affected: 219,577
All affected models were sold in the United States, with no current reports of injuries linked to the issue.
What Owners Should Do
Stellantis will begin notifying owners starting September 30, 2025. Dealers will replace the affected rear-view cameras at no cost to the owner.

How Ram and Dodge Owners Can Take Back Control
While this recall has been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
