History Behind the Recall
Ford Motor Company has issued multiple large-scale recalls impacting over 1.1 million vehicles, making it the leading automaker in what some are calling a “car safety recall derby.” These recalls span several critical issues including lighting failures, brake problems, and faulty airbags.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has listed at least five separate campaigns, each affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles across Ford’s most popular nameplates such as the Mustang, Edge, Ranger, Explorer, and Lincoln MKX.
Each issue carries serious safety implications: from reduced braking power and non-functioning trailer lights, to airbags that could tear on deployment.
