History Behind the Recall
Ford Motor Co. has announced a recall affecting 229,609 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport vehicles due to a defect that may cause the instrument panel cluster to fail at startup, preventing critical driving information from displaying properly. The recall applies to model year 2025 and 2026 vehicles and is active in the United States.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which issued the recall notice on November 14, 2025, the malfunction could result in the vehicle speed, warning lights, and other essential indicators not appearing on the dashboard when the vehicle is started. NHTSA warned that an instrument panel that does not display critical information increases the risk of a crash.
Ford reports that, so far, no injuries or accidents have been linked to the issue.
Which Vehicles Are Affected
The recall includes 229,609 vehicles, consisting of:
- 2025–2026 Ford Bronco
- 2025–2026 Ford Bronco Sport
The issue involves the instrument panel cluster software, which may fail to initialize correctly during vehicle startup, resulting in a blank or partially functional display.
Ford’s internal recall reference number for this issue is 25SC3.
What Owners Need to Do Next
Ford says the defect will be remedied through a free software update, which can be installed either:
- At an authorized Ford dealership, or
- Over-the-air (OTA) for vehicles equipped to receive remote updates
Ford plans to begin notifying owners via email after December 8, 2025. In the meantime, owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information.
Owners are also encouraged to check their vehicle’s recall status by entering their VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
How Ford Owners Can Take Back Control
While this recall has been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
