Recall Issued for 2025 RAM 1500 Trucks Over Front Wheel Bearing Encoder Ring Defect

Stellantis has announced a recall for select 2025 RAM 1500 trucks due to potential issues with the front wheel bearing encoder rings. This defect could compromise the vehicle’s stability control system, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering drivers and passengers.

History Behind the Recall

The issue came to light during internal quality control checks and subsequent reports from the field. According to Stellantis, damage to the encoder rings can cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system to malfunction. The ESC is a critical safety feature designed to prevent loss of traction by automatically adjusting braking pressure to individual wheels.

The malfunction could result in the ESC warning light being displayed on the dashboard. In certain cases, this could lead to diminished control over the vehicle, particularly during maneuvers requiring high traction.

Which Models Are Affected?

This recall specifically targets the 2025 RAM 1500 models produced between July 2024 and October 2024. The defective encoder rings were identified as being part of a limited batch of components supplied during that production window. Owners can verify if their vehicle is part of the recall by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website or Stellantis’ official recall page and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). https://www.nhtsa.gov/

What Owners Need to Do Next

RAM 1500 owners affected by this recall are advised to schedule an appointment with their nearest authorized dealership. Technicians will inspect the front wheel bearing encoder rings and replace any damaged components at no cost to the owner. Stellantis began notifying dealerships in early November, and affected owners will receive notification letters starting November 27, 2024.

How RAM Owners Can Take Back Control

While recalls have been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, just like this—underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
