Tesla Recalls Most Cybertruck’s Over Loose Exterior Trim Panel

History Behind the Recall

Tesla has announced a major recall affecting the majority of its Cybertruck lineup. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), over 46,000 Cybertruck’s built between November 2023 and February 27, 2025, are at risk of stainless-steel exterior trim panels detaching while driving.

The company stated the issue arises from the improper adhesive used to attach the exterior rail panel to the body. In some cases, the panels may become loose or separate, creating a potential road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. While 151 warranty claims may be related to the issue, Tesla reports no known accidents or injuries.

This is the eighth recall for the Cybertruck in less than a year, intensifying scrutiny on the vehicle’s build quality and reliability as Tesla aims to scale production.

Which Models Are Affected

This recall covers 46,000+ 2024 and early 2025 Tesla Cybertruck’s manufactured between November 2023 and late February 2025. Tesla did not provide an exact VIN range but has confirmed the affected models span most of the current Cybertruck production.

What Owners Need To Do Next

Tesla will replace the faulty rail panel assembly free of charge. The new version uses a more robust adhesive system and adds a welded stud and nut to secure the panel properly.

Owner notification letters are expected to be sent soon. In the meantime, Tesla customers can contact Tesla Customer Service or check their recall status using their VIN on the NHTSA website.

How Tesla Owners Can Take Back Control

While recalls have been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, just like this, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
