History Behind the Recall

General Motors (GM) has issued a safety recall affecting more than 10,000 Cadillac Lyriq vehicles after discovering that the owner’s manual contains incorrect information about rear head restraints, creating a potential safety risk.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the owner’s manual for certain 2025 Cadillac Lyriq vehicles inaccurately describes the rear outboard head restraints. As a result, the vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 202, which governs head restraint requirements.

NHTSA warns that incorrect head restraint instructions may lead to improper adjustment, increasing the risk of injury to rear-seat occupants in the event of a crash.

Which Vehicles Are Affected

The recall applies to approximately 10,643 vehicles, including:

  • 2025 Cadillac Lyriq

All affected vehicles were sold in the United States and were delivered with owner’s manuals containing incorrect illustrations and descriptions related to the rear head restraints.

What Owners Need to Do Next

GM will mail corrected owner’s manual inserts to affected vehicle owners free of charge. The inserts will provide accurate illustrations and instructions for properly adjusting the rear outboard head restraints.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning May 12, 2025. Owners with questions can contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM’s internal recall number for this campaign is N252492340.

Owners may also verify whether their vehicle is included in the recall by entering their VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

How Cadillac Owners Can Take Back Control

While this recall has been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
