Ford Recall Overview

Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall affecting certain 2024–2025 Ford E-350, F-650  and F-750 vehicles due to a potential transmission defect that could increase the risk of  unintended vehicle movement.

According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall  involves vehicles equipped with 6R140 transmissions that may contain a casting defect within the  transmission’s upper valve body. This defect can cause the main control poppet valve to become  stuck in the open position, potentially leading to mechanical issues that affect the vehicle’s ability  to remain securely in Park.

What Is the Problem?

The defect may restrict the flow of lubricant inside the transmission, resulting in excessive heat,  vibration, and potential transmission fluid leakage. Over time, this condition may cause internal  components to loosen, which can prevent the parking pawl from fully engaging when the vehicle  is shifted into Park.

If the parking pawl fails to engage and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could roll away  unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Drivers may notice warning signs such as  transmission fluid leaks, abnormal noise, or increased vibration while driving.

Ford reported that the issue was identified following field reports and engineering analysis of  returned transmissions. While warranty claims have been recorded, the automaker states it is not  aware of any accidents or injuries related to the condition at this time.

Remedy and Owner Notification

Ford dealers will inspect affected vehicles and perform repairs free of charge. Depending on  inspection results, technicians may replace the transmission valve body and extension housing or,  in some cases, the entire transmission assembly.

Owner notification letters began mailing in late October 2023, and affected owners are  encouraged to contact their local Ford dealer to schedule repairs once parts are available.

How Ford Owners Can Take Back Control

While this recall has been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the  solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further  action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
